Back in February I heard that Tommy Hilfiger was collaborating with The Preppy Handbook's Lisa Birnbach for a True Prep inspires capsule collection and popup shop. The news got even more exciting when I realized I would be in New York when the teeny New England cabin was constructed. Unfortunately it decided to show up the weekend I was going home, but a Thursday opening allowed me to get myself down to the (very charming) Meatpacking District to visit the prep wonderland. Pardon the phone pics.
And I couldn't resist taking a picture of the perfectly blue sky above the Meatpacking District on my way back to the subway.
The cottage that houses the popup shop is so cute - reminiscent of Nantucket houses (which, of course, I love) - and it's full of preppy goodies including my dream shoes (below) and the True Prep line. The store also houses some other cute treats - cookies shaped like Tommy polo shirts and a game called "prepgammon" among them. I bought a Kiel James Patrick bracelet, though like a moose with a muffin, now all I want is more of them!
If you have time today or tomorrow I highly recommend taking a trip. If not for the preppiness of it, at least go for the extremely attractive male models working the store in their prep best. And if I haven't convinced you, check out this great video made for the press opening of the store.
