My life is complete
It's a good rule of thumb to dress nicely all the time because you don't know who you'll see or run into. Today I had my best real world experience of that tenet. I was getting my lunch in the cafeteria (thus far I've been too lazy to make and bring a lunch) and I had lucked out with a short sushi line so I was carrying a box of spicy tuna rolls. After I paid, I grabbed some napkins and started walking toward the back of the cafeteria. I turned a corner and looking up, I saw her. Anna Wintour was in the cafeteria, sitting at the table that I'd heard was saved for her. I think my heart skipped a beat. My first thought was "Omigod it's Anna Wintour" (well, more like "omigodomigodomigod...") and my second thought was "Thank goodness I look nice today."
When I saw this skirt in H&M over spring break, I fell in love with the bright red. But I worried that the below-the-knee length wouldn't look good on someone my height. After all, lengths like this are notorious for making short people look even shorter and stumpy to boot. I think that the shape and color of the skirt save it though - instead of looking stumpy i look, well I look like me. And that's how I want to look. Expect to see a lot more of this skirt.

The length does look good on you. The outfit without the blazer looks very 50s, but not in a costume-y way. Reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday or Leslie Caron in An American in Paris.
