Year in Review: Part IV

Fall:
Turns out fall was the hardest season to pick my favorite outfits for. I guess school and cooler weather bring out my creativity. Thus I picked a few outfits from each of the fall months.
October:

November:

December:
That's my year in review. Now I'm wearing sequined shorts to ring in the New Year.

Summer
July:
I think my go to outfit is really a variation on a schoolgirl - knee socks, skirt and blouse. Maybe it's because I'm so small, but I think it works really well - except when I'm trying to actually look my age.

August:
This outfit was a first for me with the leggings. I'm not a convert, but I suddenly understood the appeal of heading to class in a tunic and a pair of soft stretchy leggings. I am not, however, convinced that they count as real pants.

September:
The saddest moment of September was when I left that hat in National Airport. Never again will I leave a hat unattended.

Up Next: I better get a move on to get Fall done before the clock strikes 12

This Diamond Ring

I'm not usually one to moon over bridal dresses and editorials and the such - I'm not one with grandiose dreams about my own wedding. I figure it's so far in the future, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. That said, this editorial from Brides Magazine that I came across on Fashion Gone Rogue really captured my imagination - I love the whimsical fantastical feel to it. Adding a dose of the surreal makes bridal fantasies more palatable.

My favorite outfits from...
Spring:
April:
This outfit was so soft and sweet - I'm not sure what shoes I wore with it, but I love the comfy feminine look of it. It's a little weird now to look back and see myself in front of the door in my dorm room - that feels like such a long time ago.

May:
This was the first (and nowhere near the last) appearance of this shirt on the blog. I think it was one of my best purchases in 2010. It goes with just about everything and I've worn it so many different ways. I wouldn't be surprised if I recreated this outfit this coming spring.

June:
I wore this to a picnic with some friends - before the summer got scorching hot. This outfit is kind of my ideal - simple, classic and stylish with minimal effort. If only I could get that down for all times of the year

Grill mate

Jacket: Target, Shirt: Old Navy, Skirt: Banana Republic, Tights: Target, Shoes: ModCloth

I'm back. And basking in the sun and warmth of late December. I'm only half joking - temperatures in the 40s feel almost like a heat wave to me due to my winter conditioning in the great white north. Speaking of great white, we missed the snow that was north and south of us much to my dismay. I was really hoping for some quality winter weather while home, but I guess I'll settle for being comfortable outside without a parka on. I had a relaxing Christmas weekend - more posts about various gifts to come - and now I'm enjoying my last few days at home (sob) by seeing friends and relaxing at home. While outside I noticed that my shirt matched our Weber kettle. Maybe I should start trying to match appliances in my house. We do have a nice red toaster...

Year in Review: Part I

As 2010 draws to a close (much to my disbelief) I've decided to look back at the year and what I wore. It's interesting to have a whole year of outfit photos. It's not complete - I didn't take a picture every day - but to have a record like that to look back on is fascinating. I can see myself change from day to day, I can see where I've been. It's fun - like a little photo diary of my year. I decided to pick and share my favorite outfits from each month of the year.

Treats and Trimmings

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is the food that goes along with it. When else during the year is eating delicious treat after delicious treat so widely approved of and encouraged? Earlier this week I made some frosted sugar cookies to send to a friend as part of his Christmas gift and luckily the recipe allowed for more than enough cookies so that we could have some leftover. They're not the prettiest cookies, but they sure do taste good. Some festive cookies and a glass of milk leave me fa-la-la-ing (and feeling quite full).
(I also painted my nails today to get into the spirit)

Another one of my favorite holiday traditions is trimming the tree. We got our tree on Sunday, but it didn't go up until last night because of some tree stand problems. Nevertheless, we still got our act together and spent the evening listening to Christmas albums and hanging ornaments. Some ornaments we've had forever and putting them on the tree each year just brings a rush of warm and fuzzy feelings. And afterward, the glow of the lit tree makes the living room feel just that much more cozy.
