I've just been doing new things all over the place this weekend.
I fulfilled Summer Goal #1 and actually mastered riding a bike yesterday, which was pretty exciting. And today, in a twist from normal, I went canoeing with two friends. I say a twist because I am not what anyone would call an outdoorsy type. But, as outdoors activities go, I'm much more game for water sports than say, rock climbing or hiking. It was a gorgeous day, so being on the Potomac was lovely. Lots of people were out kayaking, boating and canoeing enjoying the weather. My friends and I certainly enjoyed ourselves and the scenery.

Three-In-One
Would you believe that I wore three completely different outfits today?
Outfit #1: white dress, blue necklace, blue & gold sandals, black & white fedora. To the Zoo
Outfit #2: White tank top, blue athletic shorts, white running shoes. To a friend's house
Outfit #3: Pink & orange dress, black cardigan, black flats. To dinner

It's a Jungle Out there
I love the zoo. Going to the zoo fills me with childlike excitement and wonder - my eyes get wider, my voice gets (even) more high-pitched, I clap my hands in delight... I basically turn into an 8-year-old. Though perhaps 8 year olds are more apathetic than that these days. I went to the zoo on my birthday and three months, one day later I returned to my first zoo love - the National Zoo
I'm more or less in love with the animals. Another plus was that, in driving to the zoo, we got to view some other great scenery as well. The houses in the area around the zoo are completely gorgeous. My mom said that one day she'd take me back down there to walk around the neighborhoods and see the National Cathedral, which, despite having lived so close all my life, I have never seen.

Time is Running Out
Dress: Zac Posen for Target, Shoes: Aerosoles, Earrings: gift
I know that some bloggers take an hour or two to take photos, but I just don't have the time. I had a few minutes before heading to work so I scampered outside with my camera, got these four pictures, then headed in to get my bag. I get what I can and have to be happy with it. And I am. I think too much time would make me crazy.
Extra! Extra!
I'm getting tired of museums, I think. But we went to the Newseum today and as a journalist-hopeful, I can't help but love it.
If you've got a thing for news like I do, you'd love the Newseum. It has frontpages from countries all over the world and the country updated every morning. It's dedicated to the media and the first amendment - the front of the building has a giant first amendment on it - truly a sight to behold. They've got some pretty cool stuff too - an exhibit about the media phenomenon that was Elvis Presley, the late great Tim Russert's office, and even a large chunk of the Berlin Wall with a guard tower that once overlooked the East/West Germany boundary.
And if exhibits dedicated to the history of journalism aren't your thing, it's got a great view of the city.
Don't my mom and cousin look thrilled by the heat?
