Felting it Out

I've probably mentioned this before, but I work as a copy editor at my campus's Daily newspaper. So two nights a week I spend two hours checking grammar, punctuation, spelling and facts for articles that will be published the next day. Not always, but often, I have a good deal of down time between articles and I use that time to read articles from the Washington Post and New York Times online. One of my favorite sections is the Home & Garden section of the New York Times because they always have great slideshows to go along with their stories. Earlier this week, a story about Dana Barnes, a fashion designer who creates great big felt rugs for her loft caught my fancy and I wanted to share a few images.

I love how large the wool that they use is. It reminds me of all those oversize knits that were being shown a few seasons back. It just looks so soft. And the square rugs remind me of all the granny squares my sister crocheted while she was making herself a blanket. The top picture makes me want a floor covered in richly colored crocheted pieces.
