Hanna versus Hair

First: I was inspired to do this post while reading Delightfully Tacky. She has incredible hair. Her hair reminds me of what my hair looks like when it has just come out of braids when damp - but awesome. If my hair looked like that I would keep it like that all the time.
Second: I'm not really sure what other people think of my hair. I guess most people don't really think of how long it takes me to get my hair to where it is usually. I've never had hair that was extremely easy to deal with. I can't just wash and go - it would end up a tangled mess, and then I would cry trying to comb it out. Which is what has happened in the past. In particular, an episode when we were in St. Lucia when I was in third grade. When we went on vacations as kids, my mom always had my sister and I get out hair braided so that she wouldn't have to deal with it. Until I got my relaxer in the fifth grade(?) my mother washed my hair with me standing in the shower. Anyway, in St. Lucia, we decided to redo my braids the day before we left so that I could wait another two weeks before having to take them out. When we took my hair out, it was a tangled mess and my mother had to use a whole big bottle of conditioner on my hair to get it under control. This is the reason that I will probably never not have a relaxer.
Third: I thought it would be fun to do a post of my hair, from wash to it's normal state. In my opinion, it's an interesting transformation.
1: just-washed hair - I honestly wish my hair could look like this without being wet while still being manageable.
2: Just-brushed, still wet hair (sorry about looking angry in the second picture)
3: Braids + headband - I spent a good portion of my childhood with my hair in two braids
4: out of braids, kind of damp - if my hair would stay like this, instead of getting bigger and frizzier as it dries, I would wear it like this. I like the waves, but it becomes unmanageable
5: Still damp, brushed out

6: Dry hair - this is actually smaller than it usually is after using the hairdryer. Usually I look like a lion. Or Chaka Khan

(Chaka Khan - from here)
7: Hair curled with flat-iron and back to what people usually see

Phew. That was...a lot of my face. But I like looking at my hair in its different stages. Maybe I'm vain.
