Old dirt roads, knee deep snow
Once again it's snowing. Last night's rain melted all the snow that had already fallen, but the grass and even the concrete walkways are now being covered in a dusting of white. I've had no reason to go outside today, so I've been in the dorm all day. But I've been sitting on my bed looking out my window for quite a bit of time. I finally decided to stop procrastinating and get some work done, so I've been working on my paper, listening to music, and glancing out the window at the swirling snowflakes. I've been listening to a lot of soundtracks recently - New Moon, Twilight, Marie Antoinette and (500) Days of Summer. They're all soundtracks that got a lot of playing time when I first got them, and I go back to them a lot. I think it's that when I'm writing, I like to listen to music that a) I'll know I like without having to skip around and b) has a direction. I think listening to a cd that has a purpose (to fit with the story or to help the story along) it helps my writing process. If the music has a focus then I can focus. I didn't get properly dressed for the weather today because I planned to stay indoors, but I tried to make my outfit at least festive for the season. Tomorrow I'll have to go out at least once, so I'm trying to decide whether it will be a pants day. High of 12 with wind chill making it feel as low as -15? It might take some creative layering.
