It was cold today. Actually, I believe that's an understatement. It was freezing today. The high was supposed to be 12, and I'm not even sure it got there. When I went out it felt like -11. I thought my nose might actually fall off from being exposed to such cold temperatures. Usually when I leave the heat on in my room for more than an hour, it feels like a sauna. Today it's completely comfortable, maybe even a little colder than I'd like. The condensation on the inside of my window was frozen. It's cold. On the bright side, I've decided that I can wear dresses basically all winter. I bought this dress (which is actually a nightgown, but shh don't tell) from American Eagle a couple weeks ago, because I could get 20% off and free shipping, and I figured it would probably be sold out in my size by the time I submitted my Christmas list to my parents. I was right, it's sold out now. I was drawn to it because the sheer ruffles seemed to have a sort of ethereal quality, and I could picture wearing it with tights and a big coat. Which is precisely what I did today. I started out with just the dress and some tights, adding to it until I could wear it outside. I also got to finally wear the faux-fur leopard coat I bought from ModCloth a while ago. It turned out to be warm enough for the day. In the end, I was wearing tights, socks, boots, a slip, a tank top, the dress, a sweater, my jacket, a scarf, a hat and gloves. And there were still a few parts of my body (mainly my head and hands) that were cold when I went outside. But I figure, if I can wear the thinnest dress I own on a day that feels like -11, then I can wear dresses all winter. I'll just do some creative layering. I took pictures of my process of figuring out what to wear.

dress: American Eagle, jacket: ModCloth, boots: Urban Outfitters, scarf: GapAfter the first time I went outside, I switched the boots for my winter boots, since my toes were in the process of freezing off. I also switched the scarf for something a little thicker - the wind cuts through everything.
